Yes, there are a lot of work-from-home scams out there — beware of envelope-stuffing or online survey opportunities.
But many people work successfully from home — myself included. These jobs are a little more specialized, but if you have the right skill set, you might be able to find one.
Here are a few of your options:
* childcare
* IT support
* writing or editing services
* SEO article writing or editing
Guru is a great freelancing resource where you can register and big on projects; the website deals with all payments, so you’re never giving your banking info to a stranger. Or, CraigsList is a great place to find full-time, salaried positions that involve working remotely. It’s 2011 and gas prices are horrible — many employers are using the added cost of commuting, their cost of leasing cubicle space, and the interactive technology available (webcam conferences, anyone?) as no-brainer reasons to gravitate towards the internet. It saves cost for everyone.
Online or home-based jobs are not impossible to find. Just use your head, do your background research on any company you deal with, and NEVER sign up for anything that requires you to pay.
