One way you can make money is with affiliate programs.

You create an interesting web site, one that has a genuine content that people might find useful. Then you run advertisements on it for various products and services. Companies will pay you for referring customers to them. Either a commission for simply sending them a potential customer, or a commission on the goods and services that that customer purchases.

I used to run a site that was a kind of online shopping mall. When the PS2 came out, I sold them through Amazon.com and I made $20 for each one I sold. But my best single sale was with a computer store. One of my site visitors went to their web site and purchased $37,000 worth of computer stuff. I got a check in the mail for $1,100. Not bad for doing nothing!
