I have been trying for a few months to earn money by taking surveys and stuff and reading e-mails but I’ve hardly earned anything. How do some people earn so much money online?

nobody is earning a meaningful amount of money using anything you’ll see mentioned in Y!A.
At best you’ll make a few cents per hour; more likely, the survey rules and gimmicks and constant problems with unauthorized/bogus charges to your bank and c/c accounts and so forth will end up cost ing you more than you are making.
