What are some legit ways to earn money online?
Question by John Maupins: What are some legit ways to earn money online?
I’m looking for some legitimate ways to make money online. I really want to be able to make some money from home to help me with the state of the economy. Please let me know of some legitimate ways to make money online without having to pay anything. I am also not looking for anything that is a scam because that seems to be all that I can find online these times. Please let me know of some websites that any of you have tried and are known to easily work. Thanks in advance and your help would be greatly appreciated.

Look into designing websites. You need a degree, or a lot of computer knowledge to take that on, if that sounds like a potential area of interest.

1) A call center in your home. Thanks to the Internet and better call-routing technology, more companies are finding they can outsource their order-taking, sales and problem-solving calls to home-based workers, said LiveOps board member Bill Trenchard. LiveOps not only runs an outsource operation, Trenchard said, but it also provides technology for companies that want to set up their own home-based call centers. The job isn’t without drawbacks. Pay usually starts around $8 an hour, assuming you get enough calls, which can come slowly at the beginning, Opara said. The jobs that simply require taking orders often pay the least, while the better-paying jobs typically require that you have sales skills. Some call centers that employ home-based workers:
Alpine Access
LiveOps
Arise
West at Home
2) Online auctions
Online auction sites have helped people do more than empty their attics (or fill them up again). The largest online auction site, eBay, says it is home to more than a million “professional sellers” who report the site as a primary or secondary source of income.
3)Mystery shopping, survey taking and ‘piece work’
Mystery shopping and survey-taking opportunities have been around for a while, but the Internet has made finding them easier, Webb said.
“Mystery shoppers” are typically paid $5 to $100 per assignment to pose as average customers and then critique a store or service, Webb said. The range for filling out surveys or participating in focus groups can be even wider, from a few dollars to a few hundred bucks a shot. For this job, be prepared to start small and work yourself up.Some Internet-based mystery-shopping services include:
Corporate Research International Mystery Shops
Mystery Guest
Service Intelligence Experience Exchange
TIPS
Your best opportunities may be close to home. If you’re still working, rummage around your current workplace to see if any job — not just the one you’re doing now — is portable. You might hit pay dirt if you’re well-regarded and your employer has work that’s not getting done or not being done well. A written plan explaining your proposal may help you sway your employer.
Otherwise, expect a lot of competition. Plenty of people want to work from home and will inundate any company they think might hire them. GOOD LUCK!
I found a great Internet company – Cashfiesta.com – that has created a product everyone can benefit from. They pay you while you work or play on your computer. All you need to do is keep their software – the FiestaBar™ – active while you are online. They even pay you when your friends are using their computers.
Unlike other companies, Cashfiesta gives you control over how much money you earn. They have an individual payrate based on the number of Special Offers you sign up for. As some of these offers are free, you can increase your payrate up to 33 times without spending a penny.
It’s free and easy to join and your privacy is completely protected. Here is the link, enjoy and happy money making.

Try pikonik.com, this web should give you a good sample of legit¤t online companies (data entry, mystery shop, survey, blogging, write a product report, medical billing/transcription, IT/programming stuff)
Other web like workathomemom or even the ftc.gov should give you pretty good ideas as well.
Have you ever tried blogging? A blog that catches on can earn you a good income through advertising and sales (t-shirts etc.) There are even people who have struck gold, like Perez Hilton. All you need is a good idea and a pen (or keyboard in this case). Google Blogger allows you to set up a free blog. Look in the source paragraph for a site I found useful.
Another idea is to try to get yourself into Pinecone Research. It is a website that has a cult following because they only accept people about once a year. Those who have used it say that it is a very great program and a good source of income. The customer service is great, and although the site looks dated, it is definitely legit. Hope that I helped you,
As far as survey sites go, they aren’t usually worth the time and dedication. However, there are some websites that I have used that get me some paypal cash gift cards to amazon each month, with very little dedication and time. A simple search on google of “the best reward sites”, or “the best survey sites would probably be enough to get you going, but if you are having trouble, look at the sources below this answer for a site with a REALLY good list of reward and survey sites. Some of my personal favourites are:

BzzAgent: http://www.bzzagent.com
